Amazon S3 pricing calculator
A monthly S3 Standard bill split into storage, requests and data transfer, plus what the same data would cost to store in the colder classes.

Storing the same data in another class
US East (N. Virginia) prices from aws.amazon.com/s3/pricing, checked 2026-10-11. Standard storage is $0.023 per GB for the first 50 TB; the first 100 GB out each month are free, then $0.09 per GB up to 10 TB. Colder classes add retrieval fees and minimum storage durations, so they suit data you rarely read.
Why the storage line is rarely the problem
Keeping a terabyte in S3 Standard costs about $23 a month. Sending that same terabyte out to browsers once costs about $80 in data transfer, after the first free 100 GB. So a bucket of product images or avatars that every page loads straight from S3 can easily cost several times more to serve than to store, and the calculator above will show it as soon as you raise the transfer number.
The usual fix is a CDN in front of the bucket, CloudFront or Cloudflare, so each file leaves S3 once and is cached near the visitor after that. For data you rarely read, logs and old backups mostly, a lifecycle rule can move it to Standard-IA or Glacier after 30 days. Check the minimums first: Standard-IA bills at least 30 days and 128 KB per object, so moving lots of tiny or short-lived files can cost more than leaving them.
Two things hide well in the console: incomplete multipart uploads, and old object versions in buckets with versioning on. Both are billed like any other data.
If your S3 line is bigger than this page says it should be, send us the bill and we will find out why.
